Mindset – How to change your life

I have found, after many years of working hard in many different careers, that your certain habits make or break your success in changing your life from awful to what you actually want. Mindset determines how well you do.

Fear is the hardest thing in change.

Deciding to change your life is really hard.  Especially since you have no idea if you are going to be successful.  And, even that fear, can actually bring about that which you have feared so much.  So, when you decide to change, decide you are going to win this fight, first.  Then, keep that thought at the forefront of your mind whenever you feel uncomfortable.  Because, you will feel uncomfortable.  After all, your habits are very comfortable.

You can start with these seven mindset shifts:

1. First, really decide what you want before you actually put it in a defined form.

Really take time to remember your passions.  Why did I stop crocheting?  What was the reason I gave up painting?  Is there someplace I can find that actually does real pottery like I’ve always wanted to do?  Dig deep down into your dreams and aspirations and get in touch with them. Experience, feel and taste what you are passionate about. Get out there and discover yourself.  Then ask yourself what you want in life and why it’s important to you. What really would make you happy and passionate about life again?

Your vision is about you and your desires, and it has to be complete, clear and brutally honest.

2. Then, become clear and very precise about what you want.

Decide exactly what you want and write it down.  And keep that written notebook or goal book close by you.  Write in it and refine it until you can actually see it in your mine.  What are your dreams?  Really your dreams?

Write down everything. Your brain will do what you want, but in order to get there, you need to be very specific about your mission. So start writing your dreams in full detail.

There is an outstanding book by Earle Nightingale that is called “The Strangest Secret”.  It is still available even though it is many years old.  The truth in this book is undeniable.  I have seen it work in my life.  Three months ago, I was definitely not in a good place financially and felt very stressed.  I read this book and three months later,  here I am in a new home, no debt, many new friends and having the time of my life.  Now that is what I focused on for 30 days.  It  was my dream. After you finish this article, check out this book. You can find it online. It isn’t very long, but it works.

3. Continually reinforce your motivation. Keep your mindset fresh!!

It is initially really exciting to actually have figured out what you want and what you want your life to consist of.  But, it is often hard to keep up the energy to keep going after it.  So, look for more of a why.  For example: Will your children be helped by this dream?  Will you be less of a burden as you get older if you succeed in your financial dreams.  In my case, my friends are a lot more fun to be around when I’m feeling upbeat and like I’m getting somewhere.

How many people do you have influence over without even realizing it?

Will your family and friends be better off if you succeed in your dreams. . How would they be influenced one year down the road after your dream is fulfilled? What about two years? You’re getting stronger, the benefits to your loved ones are growing and the impact on the community around you expands. Visualize how it all accumulates after five years. Ten years. Focus on that vision and feel the energy.

To be successful in my dreams I had to get out of retirement and start a business to bring in more money.  What I’m doing now is called a legacy business.  That means it can be handed down to my children, if they want to keep it up. .  So, even as your children and friends watch you change your habits for the better, you are building multiple streams of income business for your children to inherit.  I really like that.  Our CEO starts teaching his children even when they are little, so they are pros at this before they are 21.

Return to this visualization exercise each time your motivation and mindset need a boost.  We have something that we do call RRR – Reset, Refocus and Recommit.  We use this in our business daily.

4. Get a planner and make a plan. Then start your small habit changes that make that plan come to fruition.

What do I need to know to fulfill my dream? Is there a skill set I need? Is there new knowledge I need to acquire? One of the simplest ways to create a roadmap for your journey toward your dream is to model the actions of the people who already succeeded what you wish to achieve. Mindset is in all off this!!

Find those people. Interview them. Read about their journeys. Replicate their steps. Learning from those who have gone before is a really smart idea, because they give really good advice. So, when you start, you’ll hit the ground running.

5. Then, what is your belief system? Another word for this is Mindset!

In the past, did you grow up thinking small?  Does that still limit you? Did you live a life of just getting by? Our beliefs are external (what we say aloud) and internal (what we feel deep in our hearts). The internal beliefs are the ones calling the shots about what you really feel about yourself, who you are and what you are capable of. You have to change your internal belief system to actually win the race. Don’t let those past beliefs make you limit your dreams.

The good news is that beliefs can be rewritten through diligent internal work: meditations, daily affirmations, journaling,  and creative visualizations. Use whatever works for you.

Remember that beliefs drive perceptions, perceptions drive habits, and habits drive actions and success. You are who you think you are is really a total truth.  You read it in The Secret and listened to Jim Rohn say he believed it.  Look at how successful he was.

6. Remember that habits need to be embraced.  Embrace the daily habits that become your life disclipline.

If you want to master something, you have to work consistently and with discipline. That includes 1) consciously setting and following the daily habits we need to reach our goals, and 2) being keenly aware of distractions.

The habits you have right now are specifically geared to help you achieve everything you’ve already achieved. If you want something new, you have to change your habits. So what new habits can you set for yourself in the pursuit of your dream?

Discipline needs focus.  Don’t try to do everything at once.  Decide on the first habit ou need to start with and develop that.  Don’t let anything stand in your way.   Thus, you need to be consistent not only in maintaining habits, but also in the conscious decision to achieve the right things and stay away from the unproductive ones. Multitasking is just a modern myth. The truth is that the most successful people are focused.

7. Finally, decide each day to take one, two or (if you are really sure) three small steps toward the life you picture in your dreams.

By consistently making seemingly small actions, you plant seeds of achievement into your conscience. You start feeling the progress you’re making, and in time, these feelings grow into a belief and then into an attitude.  That is what the concept of this article is about:  How to change your life by changing your mindset.  Mindset is attitude about the world and your place in it. That attitude will get you where you want to go.  Remember, you can eat an elephant, It only takes just one small bite at a time. And the time you need happens faster than you can believe, because once you start it is like a rockslide.  It gets faster the closer it comes to its destination.

After reading and implementing all of these habits, fear will no longer stop your dreams.
